Amy discovered yoga in the late 90’s when a friend gave her a copy of Beginning Yoga by Vijayendra Pratap. Not finding a yoga community in her hometown of San Antonio, she studied this text until she arrived in the Baltimore-Washington area in 2001. There she was able to practice yoga in community, continuing her practice of hatha yoga and attending the occasional kundalini yoga class. Amy became part of the inaugural RYT-200 Hatha Yoga Teacher Training with Lighthouse Yoga Center in 2020 in order to deepen her personal practice and share her love of yoga with others. Amy’s approach to yoga remains focused on incorporating knowledge from all the limbs of yoga (not just the physical practice). She is committed to facilitating yoga classes accessible to everyone, and creating a space where her students are able to leave feeling clearer, lighter, and refreshed. A lifelong learner and educator, she hopes to learn just as much from her students as they do from her.
