$40.00 Calling the Light: Movement and Mantra
The Gayatri Mantra is an ancient chant with origins in the Vedas of
Hinduism. It has become a celebrated Universal Prayer to call forth a
divine light to awaken our inner wisdom. This energizing workshop will
provide a well-rounded movement practice to tap into inner warmth before
we learn and chant the Gayatri Mantra together.
The movement
practice begins with a somatic lesson and some sweet shoulder movements
for your spine and upper back, followed by a sequence of heat-building
standing poses and some seated poses to stretch out your hips and
hamstrings. This perfect doable challenge in the physical practice will
warm and enliven your body and mind.
You'll settle into a
comfortable seat to learn a bit of the fascinating history, structure,
and intention of the Gayatri Mantra. Then supported with a word-by-word
translation and Sanskrit pronunciation take-home sheet, we'll chant
call-and-response and in unison.
Come to welcome the light and warmth for the year ahead in an empowering way in your movement and with your voice!
All curious folks are welcome. No yoga or chanting/singing experience is required.
