$40.00 Earth Day Forest Bathing
The Japanese have practiced forest bathing, or shinrin yoku,
since the 1980’s to combat the symptoms of stress experienced by
technology and office workers. The practice rose in popularity in the
United States and elsewhere during the pandemic as a powerful medicine
for chronic burnout and loneliness. Recent research has demonstrated the
vast mental health benefits of forest bathing, and doctors are now
prescribing it directly to their patients. As the climate crisis
unfolds, forest bathing also serves as a powerful restorative practice
to re-connect ourselves to nature and to each other, enabling us to
sustain long-term commitment to a healthy planet.
In this guided
forest bathing walk we will begin with some gentle mindful movement and
sensory awareness exercises to open our minds, hearts, and bodies. Your
guide will then offer three custom invitations designed to prompt
reflection and noticing through your senses. The walk will conclude with
a serving of herbal tea.
