$0.00 October Book Club
For this month's yoga book club, we will be reading the blockbuster "
Caste: The Origins of our Discontents" from Pulitzer Prize–winning
bestselling author of The Warmth of Other Suns, Isabel Wilkerson.
This brilliant book topped every best-seller list in 2020, a rare
achievement for a scholarly work. In Caste, Isabel Wilkerson gives us a
deeply researched narrative about real people, sharing how America has
been shaped by a hidden caste system which hurts our collective
economic, medical, and scientific progress. We will discuss the surprising links between the caste systems of America, India, and Nazi
Germany, and explore the unquestioned underlying assumptions caste
systems share across history. We will reflect on Wilkerson's
recommendations on ways America can move beyond these artificial and
destructive human divisions, toward a just and equitable world. Manju Sadarangani will be leading the discussion, online! It's free to join, but please register.
