$35.00 Soothing Sound Bath Sunday March 2025
Explore your personal relationship with sound, mood, health, and body.
Sound healing is an ancient technique used around the world, from the
gongs and bowls of Tibet to the Salish Drum Circles of the Pacific
Northwest.
Advances in aural science have allowed scientists to study
the impact certain frequencies and tones have on cellular structure and
biorhythmic processes. Increasingly, sound healing is employed as a
holistic tool to calm, repair, and heal.
We begin our monthly sessions
by setting a personal intention (sankalp) and dimming the lights. We are
guided through meditation to center ourselves before we drift into a
sonic bath. Every month, we will employ frequencies and tones to aid
cell repair, reduce anxiety, and manage stress.
No prior experience with
yoga or meditation necessary. Sound healing works through vibration
felt in the skin and organs, making these sessions appropriate for the
hearing impaired. Participants are invited to bring any quiet props they
wish to encourage relaxation. Blankies, worry thumb stones and journals
are welcome.
Please note – these sessions may not be suitable for those
with metal or electronic implants and medical devices. As always, please
consult with your medical practitioner before embarking on any wellness
regimen.
“Music can lift us out of depression or move us to tears – it
is a remedy, a tonic, orange juice for the ear. But for many of my
neurological patients, music is even more – it can provide access, even
when no medication can, to movement, to speech, to life. For them, music
is not a luxury, but a necessity.” Oliver Sacks, best-selling author
and professor of neurology at NYU School Of Medicine
