Secrets of Shiva Book Club Wednesdays 7:30-8:30 pm, July 23 to August 20
It has been argued that if you want to understand yoga, you must
understand Shiva. In Hinduism, Shiva is the manifestation of Divinity
that seeks to withdraw from the world in order to find peace. Often
referred to as Adiyogi, the creator and first teacher of yogi, the
history and original philosophy of yoga are embedded in the stories,
symbols, and rituals of Shiva. Devdutt Pattanaik's book "7 Secrets of
Shiva" opens the door to a deeper understanding through accessible
writing and dozens of annotated images of sacred art. Join us for this
5-week book club to read and discuss Shiva's role in and influence on
modern yoga practices.

in an accessible and joyful way. Registered with Yoga Alliance at
E-RYT-200/E-RYT-500, Tara has been teaching yoga philosophy, movement,
and meditation since 2005. She has over 9,000 hours of teaching
experience.
According to Tara, there is nothing to “fix” with yoga.
Instead, there are only more opportunities to understand and be more
fully present to our separate and together experiences. She is known for
offering clear and helpful instruction to students at all levels and
makes the wisdom of yoga feel relevant and relatable.
Tara’s classes
include action-based instructions in asana that are a result of study of
anatomy, kinesiology and creative movement. In addition, Tara provides
plenty of opportunities for stillness and contemplation in her classes,
which are deeply influenced by her study and practice of Restorative
Yoga.
