$108.00 The Stories of the Poses
Have you ever wondered about the names of the yoga poses you practice?
Who is the warrior of Warrior I, II, and III? Eagle pose doesn't look
much like an eagle. Why is it called that? Why are the splits named
after the monkey god Hanuman?
Join Tara and Rebecca for this fun and
educational class series that combines storytelling and yoga asana. Each
class begins with a story of a pose told by Tara that will deepen your
understanding and connection to the traditions of yoga. Then Rebecca
will lead you through an asana practice where you can practice the pose
with your new insights. Join online or in-person. Tara will be teaching online, Rebecca will teach the practice from the studio!

Tara Lemerise
Tara Lemerise teaches the time-honored philosophy and practice of yoga
in an accessible and joyful way. Registered with Yoga Alliance at
ERYT-200/RYT-500, Tara has been teaching yoga philosophy, movement, and
meditation since 2005. She has over 7,700 hours of teaching experience.
According to Tara, there is nothing to “fix” with yoga. Instead, there are only more opportunities to understand and be more fully present to our separate and together experiences. She is known for offering clear and helpful instruction to students at all levels and makes the wisdom of yoga feel relevant and relatable.
Tara’s classes include action-based instructions in asana that are a result of study of anatomy, kinesiology and creative movement. In addition, Tara provides plenty of opportunities for stillness and contemplation in her classes, which are deeply influenced by her study and practice of Restorative Yoga.
Rebecca Henry
Owner/Director of Hatha Programming
E-RYT 200, RPYT, YACEP
Rebecca’s journey with yoga and meditation began more than twenty years ago when she took precepts with the Zen Buddhist Society of Compassionate Wisdom, finding that a vigorous yoga practice was the only way to keep her chattering mind quiet on her meditation mat. As those practices expanded into helping her with the stresses of school, and, later, work and family life, she has been exploring the benefits of her practice on and off the mat ever since.
Forever a student, Rebecca brings a beginners mind and an awakened heart to her practice and teaching. Compassion, empathy, humor and joy are at the core of all of her classes. Her focus is on alignment and mindful movement with breath in both a traditional hatha as well as vinyasa style.
Rebecca completed her 200 hour training with Tara Lemerise at Willow Street Yoga in Takoma Park, MD, pre and post natal yoga teacher training with Debra Flashenburg of the Prenatal Yoga Center of New York City and is certified with Leslie Howard in Pelvic Floor Yoga™. She has also done training with Tara Lemerise in Restorative Yoga. As a mother of two young boys, she is impassioned to support other women in their journey into motherhood through the mindfulness and body-centered practices of yoga and meditation. As birth and postpartum doula, she emphasizes childbirth education and body awareness in her pre- and postnatal classes, bringing these practical aspects together with a warm, nurturing teaching style.
