Soothing Sound Bath Sunday Sept 2026

Dates: Sunday, September 06, 2026
Location: Lighthouse Yoga Center
In-Person

$36 general/$22 members

7-8:30pm, in-person

Explore your personal relationship with sound, mood, health, and body. Sound healing is an ancient technique used around the world, from the gongs and bowls of Tibet to the Salish Drum Circles of the Pacific Northwest. Advances in aural science have allowed scientists to study the impact certain frequencies and tones have on cellular structure and biorhythmic processes. Increasingly, sound healing is employed as a holistic tool to calm, repair, and heal. We begin our monthly sessions by setting a personal intention (sankalp) and dimming the lights. We are guided through meditation to center ourselves before we drift into a sonic bath. Every month, we will employ frequencies and tones to aid cell repair, reduce anxiety, and manage stress.

From many of us in this town, the political climate has meant a deeply profound personal impact. Our professions, our institutions, our life paths have been impacted by the political reality in Washington DC in permanent and indelible ways. While there are resources for re-charting our professional careers, there is a vacuum. This gathering is an opportunity to acknowledge and honor the emotional cost of this change in our professional aspirations.

Upanishads Book Club

Dates: Wednesday, October 28, 2026 - Wednesday, December 09, 2026
Location: Online
Online

$90 general/$80 members

5 Wednesdays, 7:30-8:30 pm

The Sanskrit word upanishad literally means “sitting down near.” The Upanishads as a whole are a collection of spiritual teachings, not systematic or sequential, but more like a photo album of mystical experiences. Each one is unique and resonates differently with different seekers. Yet in beautiful and poetic language, they all address common themes, including meditation, philosophy, and the nature of consciousness.

In this book club, we will read and discuss excerpts from the Principal Upanishads and discover how these texts from thousands of years ago lay the philosophical groundwork for the yoga we practice today.
